John J McGrath, Jr.

John J. McGrath, Jr. is currently the Judge of Probate for the new Windham-Colchester district. He is putting many years of experience with children, families and people with special needs to work, in order to best serve the people of the new district. He also maintains a private practice, focusing on real estate, small business, landlord tenant, and many other legal matters. His Probate office in the Windham Town Hall is across the street from McGrath & McGrath, allowing him to spend time at both offices in any given day, as well as the hearings he holds in any number of locations from Windham Community Memorial Hospital to town halls in Colchester and other towns in our district. John is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Barbara Storey McGrath

Barbara Storey McGrath specializes in non-profit law. She is the director of the Connecticut Urban Legal Initiative, (CULI), with offices at the University of Connecticut Law School. Her work brings her into close contact with many non-profit organizations throughout the state. She has and continues to serve on many boards, including the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, and a new appointment on the board of the Connecticut Housing and Finance Authority. She brings to McGrath & McGrath her extensive experience with small non-profit start-ups and tax laws, and the process of obtaining 501(c)3 status. Barbara is a graduate of Yale University, attended Boston University School of Law and graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Barbara was an associate at Day, Berry, & Howard, LLP in Hartford, CT as well as a former Deputy Banking Commissioner for the state of Connecticut.
